Race day Questions
Q) Where do the proceeds of the race go towards?
We are excited that the 2022 proceeds from the 10k and half marathon will go towards an upcoming missions' trip. The 5k proceeds continue to go towards scholarships for three children who tragically lost their parents in 2017.
Q) Who makes the great food?
Time and time again we get asked about the food that we offer at the finish line. Julie Daugherty is your hostess with the moistest. She and her team put together all kinds of goodies. The fabulous pie from last year's race was graciously donated by Sweet to Eat bakery in Ankeny!
Q) Where do I park?
Everyone should plan to park at the lower lot at Carlisle High School, Wycoff Heating and cooling, or River Bottom Raceway. it’s approximately a 5–7-minute walk to the start line. You will be relieved to know your car is only about a 5–7-minute walk from the Finish Line.
Q) Is this race chipped time? Yes, the chip is in your bib so take care not to fold or bend. The time starts when the runner crosses the starting map and finishes when you cross the finish line.
Q) Can I run with a dog or stroller?
Sorry our Insurance Provider tells us no pets and no strollers.
(Besides folks tend to get grumpy about dogs or babies edging them out of award contention. LOL)
Q) Where are good places for Friends and family to take pictures, and cheer me on?
Look at Google maps at the McVay & Summerset Bike Trai. You will see intersections where your support team can park along the road, but tell them to be very careful. Please do not congregate at start or finish lines.
Q) Will the race be cancelled due to weather?
This race will take place rain, snow, or shine. The only consideration to cancel would be an unforeseen safety concern. We do our best to make the course free of debris and safe for our runners. The course is open, so runners choose to run at own risk.
Q) What kind of support is out on the course?
We provide course marshals, water/Gatorade stations every two miles, traffic control, course marshals, and we work with our local Emergency Responders to provide radio communication for everyone’s safety throughout the event. We try to take care of every detail to provide a fun and safe event.
Q) Where are water stations?
Water stations are roughly every 2 miles.
